Space-Saving Fiber Laser Cutting for Flexible Production

The Mazak STX is a compact 2D fiber laser-cutting system designed for efficient processing of thin- to medium-thickness materials. Available with 2kW or 3kW laser power, the STX combines reliable cutting performance with an innovative table-feed system that requires less than half the floor space of a traditional flying-optics laser machine.

The table-feed design provides convenient access for loading full-size sheets, remnant material, and individual parts. Finished workpieces can also be removed easily, helping simplify material handling while making productive use of valuable floor space.

Mazak’s multi-control torch includes Beam Diameter Control and Auto Focus Positioning. These technologies automatically optimize the beam diameter and focal position based on the material and thickness, helping improve cutting speed, processing stability, and productivity.

Intelligent setup functions automate several tasks normally completed by the operator, including selecting cutting conditions, setting the focal distance, changing and cleaning nozzles, and calibrating the processing gap. By automating these adjustments, the STX can reduce setup work from approximately 60 minutes to approximately one minute while minimizing variations between operators.

Intelligent monitoring functions continuously evaluate laser-processing conditions and detect issues such as piercing defects, burning, and plasma. When a problem is identified, the system can adjust or temporarily pause processing to support consistent cutting results.

The STX is equipped with the MAZATROL PREVIEW 3 CNC control, featuring a 15-inch color touchscreen and an intuitive screen layout for quick access to commonly used programming, command, and machine-position displays. The machine can also be integrated with Mazak’s flexible automation systems to reduce manual material handling and support future production growth.
