Why Capital Machine’s 43-Engineer Service Team Outperforms Other Distributors

Capital Machine employs the most dedicated service staff of any metal fabrication equipment distributor in the South. We have 43 factory-trained field service engineers, all full-time employees, with no subcontractors. This ensures consistent quality and accountability across every service call.

Unlike pure OEMs that only service their own brand or smaller distributors that outsource technicians, Capital’s service team is factory-trained by Accurpress, Hydmech, Geka, OTC, and other OEMs. We cover a broad multi-brand portfolio in one single provider.

Our service trucks are stocked with critical parts for machine repair, which enables first-visit resolution for common issues, reducing the costly back-and-forth that extends downtime for manufacturers.

Repair, Maintenance, and Support Service Under One Roof

Capital delivers six core service categories:

  • Break-fix repairs
    • We can fix and repair any machine that breaks down.
  • Condition-based maintenance programs/preventative maintenance
    • We provide comprehensive maintenance for your equipment based on age, condition, and service life, along with preventative maintenance to keep your equipment running.
  • Installation supervision
    • We can help install and supervise the installation of industrial machines.
  • Operator training and retraining
    • We offer comprehensive OEM factory-training and retraining for operators at one of our 5 technology centers or at your site.
  • Application support
    • We can provide support for specific applications you need to run.
  • Retrofits
    • We provide support for retooling and refitting equipment to any new needs.

Our broad scope service eliminates the need to coordinate with multiple vendors for different machine repair service needs. We call this our full lifecycle support.

The team also services equipment across major product lines:

  • Accurpress press brakes & shears
  • Safan-Darley press brakes & shears
  • Hyd-mech band saws
  • Geka ironworkers
  • Euromac Punches, notchers and horizontal press brakes
  • OTC Daihen robotic welding systems
  • Timesavers deburring machines

Note: Mazak and Messer handle their own direct repair service for laser and cutting equipment.

We also offer the following equipment:

  • Press brakes
  • Cutting
  • Sawing
  • Rolling
  • Deburring and finishing
  • Structural
  • Robotic welding
  • Computer numerical control (CNC) machines

Each of our service categories provides for the next, creating a closed-loop system extending equipment life.

  • Installation supervision ensures proper setup.
  • Training reduces operator error.
  • Condition-based maintenance catches issues early.
  • Break-fix repairs handle the unexpected.

Condition-Based Maintenance That Prevents Breakdowns, Costing Production Days

Capital’s condition-based maintenance program uses oil sampling conducted twice per year to monitor your equipment’s health indicators. We are looking to identify wear patterns, contamination, and degradation before they trigger costly, unplanned shutdowns.

Traditional preventive maintenance relies on fixed schedules, such as annual oil changes, regardless of actual equipment condition. Capital’s condition-based maintenance uses real-world diagnostic data to drive interventions only when needed, reducing unnecessary service costs, while catching real problems earlier.

Properly maintaining your equipment improves not only the machine’s performance but also has a significant effect on minimizing reliability problems. Keeping your industrial machines running, and running efficiently, increases your bottom line. While many companies have all the best intentions for implementing preventative maintenance programs, few actually take the necessary time or steps to implement such programs.

During the initial installation and training process, Capital’s service engineers always review these procedures and emphasize their importance. For many companies, this may be sufficient, but for others, much more may be required. We offer customized Preventive Maintenance Programs for those manufacturers that do not wish to implement such programs themselves.

Contracts are available in 1-year or 2-year terms with no auto-renewal. This gives manufacturers flexibility to evaluate results before recommitting. A structure that reflects confidence in the program’s measurable effects on uptime.

Training and Retraining Programs That Reduce Operator Error and Protect Your Equipment

Capital provides operator training as part of our full lifecycle support for equipment. We offer initial training during installation, plus retraining when staff turns over or when operators need to unlock advanced machine capabilities they haven’t been using.

Application support goes beyond button pressing. Our engineers work with manufacturers on specific production challenges such as optimizing cut parameters for a new material, troubleshooting quality issues on a press brake application, or configuring a robotic welding cell for a new part geometry.

The training programs offered by many machine tool companies and distributors fall short in providing operators the necessary depth to take full advantage of a machine’s features and capabilities. Additionally, many programs are only available if the customer is willing to travel off-site, which can be expensive and may limit the number of operators that can attend. Some companies even charge extra for training, and many small machines come with no qualified training at all. Many machine tools in use today are not performing as well as they could because of pertinent information that has been lost or ignored as operators change.

Capital recognizes this dilemma, which many companies face, and is always willing and able to meet these additional needs at little or no charge depending on the machine’s age. Often a machine’s setup time or accuracy can be improved substantially if the operator is fully trained and understands the best way to utilize the equipment.
